Does anyone know what quantum computing is? (If it’s possible, could you explain it as if I was 6 years old 🙏🏽)

Was going to ask AI, but I realised I’ve been asking it too many questions lately. Bit scary relying on it so much. Even Google.

Would love to hear from fellow humans, if you guys know of it 🫂

Legacy digital computing relies on two bits, 0 & 1. A thing can be exist or not, the answer of a question can be yes or no… No other possibility.

With quantum computing, there’s a possibility emerges: the answer can be both yes or no, at the same time! (look at Schrödinger’s cat). So, computing possibilites can be quantify as the powers of 3, rather than 2.

Idk if this is enough but I tried my chances.

You explained it brilliantly taylan, thank you ! 🙏🏽❤️‍🔥 I love how you all explained it in different ways but it helps me grasp the concept that much better 🫂

Schrödinger cat, I remember 🥹🙏🏽 not knowing for sure till you open the box, so both answers are true.

Quantum state is something that can be in "two states at once" until being observed. Then it collapses to a single state.

Computers are based on 0 and 1 and traditional computers are built with bits being either 1 or 0.

To search for a solution a traditional computer has to go through a large number of bits flipping them between 0 and 1 a trillion trillion times.

A quantum computer uses quantum bits that are both 0 and 1. When you combine many such quantum bits you have trillions and trillions of solutions at the same time.

I'm theory... You observe the quantum computer state and it collapses into the solution instantly.

In theory

Wow 👀❤️‍🔥🙏🏽 thank you! I think I get this 🫂 that’s extraordinary if that’s the future. Will be very interesting to see

It's computers that can do in one day, what current computers can do in one year.

Damn 👀 thank you 🙏🏽

As newbie I tell you Quantum computing is the strongest computing force with which you can do anything

👀 kind of scary but also very intriguing ❤️‍🔥

I thought like you✔️

Have you ever looked at your Google search history? It is like a timeline of your thoughts. Now they will allow AI to piece that together to learn who you are. And it's not a coincidence that the NSA is on the board of OpenAI.

I might be wrong but I think of it as a computer that run computation with incredible level of parallelism compared to regular computer that can run only a few computations in parallel. Like 1000s to who knows how many 😂 compared to 1-32s.

Amazing ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥
