My first question whenever I’d overhear my dancers (elementary aged girls) talking about sexual orientation was always: how would you know?

It’s not normal for young children to have a sexual orientation unless they’ve been exposed to sexuality. So I’d make a point to give them an opportunity to tattle on whoever is influencing their opinion.

I was surprised how much of what they feel and believe about them self is based on adult conversations they overheard, an adult who they love talking with them about things they’re too young to understand, or older siblings watching adult themed content with them. It’s sad.
