The U.S. government (regardless of political party) cannot be deemed trustworthy because the incentives are completely off from basic safety and property protections for its citizens
Think about it: endless money printing ability (+reserve currency), and a population that doesn’t much care for privacy or rights in the digital age.
Complete control is too easy. Certain rights and freedoms are granted by this form of government completely as an illusion to keep the population from revolt.
But as trust erodes more, this type of government will have one of two choices to make - be more responsible and actually follow the constitution (spirit and letter) or the population will grow discontent enough to revolt.
The revolt stage we regularly see in low trust, “third world” nations.
