Nostr Web Client

GM. I just got my 10k for sharing a job post. Almost enough to pay for breakfast at McDonald’s in London at current rates :).

I’ve been saying this for a while: it might sound odd given Nostr’s nature, but there’s a huge demand for a LinkedIn alternative right now. Nostr already has a gazillion talented people looking for work and just as many entrepreneurs looking for talented people. Someone, please make this happen.

PS: I’m talking about a proper professional social network client. Nostr already has a few freelance job boards, especially for BTC and Monero stuff.

I think everybody does unfortunately. It was always bad, but under Microsoft it slowly became absolutely unbearable.

That is True. It has ruined beyond recognition. Will we have a Nostr client for jobs?? What do you think? All I am seeing is Senior roles and Frontend WenDev roles here.

Waiting for it myself. Folks have already shared a bunch of Nostr-enabled BTC/Monero freelance job boards. They’re all more or less collecting dust for now, but let’s see if they grow in scope. If nobody builds this on Nostr, I’m sure it will happen over ActivityPub, AT, or some other alternative sooner or later. Whether they’ll be able to attract enough people to make it useful is another question. Nostr already has both potential clients/employers and job seekers within its tiny bubble, thanks to the whole BTC culture. That’s why I think it’s an obvious choice.

I'm not sure I would want to bother with that. It's currently a lot of mental discombobulation to keep track of multiple npubs, and then also making sure that I have enough separation from npubs (different IP addresses at the very least) to not be subject to a correlative identity association.

But nobody is gonna hire a welder for btc at this point, so, that kind of thing is not likely ever going to interest me.

As for npub management, point taken. This is why I don’t even try to use pseudonyms on Nostr. I also think that if a client uses kind 1, it would need to keep itself somewhat separate, so as not to flood everyone with the inevitable corporate fanfic that comes with that kind of environment.

Still, I believe there are far more pros than cons if someone actually builds a good decentralised LinkedIn.

Uh.. No. I'd never spend even fiat on buying IG.

The trades are almost at that point, but weldigg needs some more bosses to retire or die off to get wages moving again.

Can’t blame you there my rebellious friend. But pyromaniac dreams aside, I’m really cheering for you. Traders deserve to be better compensated and respected by society. And so do welders, construction workers, and a gazillion other trades. The whole "white-collar vs blue-collar" divide is mostly an invention of parasites who are neither.
