So I just learned it is not enough to know the mnemonic phrase to access my sats.
And I am talking on the chain.
Wtf? Where is the “12 words in the head” portability of Bitcoin?
Can someone please explain?

It can be as complex/simple as you'd like. You could use a bip39 12 word seed with a blank passphrase (13th 'word'), and store thise in your head. But imo you should always add a 13/25th passphrase to make it harder to take your coins if someone stumbles on your 12 words. See this...

I am frustrated.
I have wasabi which is bip39 compatible. Just for the fun of trying I imported the seed phrase to the blue wallet. Also bip39. Surprisingly I can't see the balance.
I can imagine a scenario where in 10y I do have my magic words but e.g. Because wasabi is dead I cannot access my sats.
