On Amethyst there's a ▶️ button next to name to read out usernames. It's 50-50 & butchers pronounciation most of the time but it's a start
Amethyst has a little play icon next to display names which gives you the pronounciation directly. It's pretty neat.
how do you tell it how to pronounce it? is it just murican english pronunciation by default like si KAY da or other things like TERRY-TORY not Territry?
I'm not sure how it's implemented exactly, you'd need to go browse the amethyst repo for that, but I've tested it on some japanese names and it works pretty well. It's a robotic voice so it's not natural but the pronounciation is not american. It actually pronounces the hiragana and katakana.
