Again, that's a harsh call, and not one I can agree with. For a start, Corgan was very explicit than the Pumpkins were neither punk nor grunge. They were only lumped in with the latter because the timing of their major label debut coincided with that of the big Seattle bands. I would say Stone Temple Pilots, Everclear, Bush, and Silverchair are the fast food franchises of grunge.
