Anyone else returning to physical media?
If so, what made you make the shift?

Not moving to physical media but interested to know why you are making that shift.
Had an epiphany that unless I hold it in my hand, I do not own it, I can not share it or pass it on.
Also was sick of paying for access instead of paying for ownership. Even if you 'buy' something digitally (i.e. iTunes etc), you don't really own it.
So I've started getting hold of 4K/UHD/Blu-ray media of my favourite movies/shows and CDs for music, then ripping them into my NAS for access via Plex/Infuse player.
The ease of streaming raw [full quality] content and owning it/being able to hold in my hands.
Sounds like a plan I think it is time I built a NAS!
Bought an iPod and crammed it full of music, looking to replace the HDD with 1TB of flash. For when shit hits the fan
This is the way 🤙🏻
Yes. Because: analog. Offline. Uncensorable. Unmonitorable. Decentralized distribution. Permissionless authorship.

Very nice. I've gone back to CDs, but don't know if I could do tapes. What made you choose tapes?
My daughter begged me for a record player recently, so we got one the other week. All the kids love it now - a couple favourites for them are The Beatles and MJ. It has added another thing to hunt for when we're out thrifting - it's been fun.
Because tapes don't have a next button. Gave my kids a cheap walkman, they asked "how do I skip to the next song" and then I realized this medium is perfect for kids.
CDs are great too, I don't judge.
But my kids ask me for custom mixtapes now.
It certainly would be a mind shift for the kids of today to have to wait to hear your favourite song on the radio to record it on a tape.
I was asked the other day "how did you guys watch music videos before YouTube?" and had to explain MTV/Rage shows that would start late at night and run over the weekend etc and that you'd have to just guess what time your song would be on to see it and record on VHS.
Good times.
I think of it like I'm speedrunning them through the tech developments. I also told them they couldn't get a phone until they told me how it works.
I found a note book with a cute description of how a cell tower works 😀
