🎮 Hello Bitcoin Gaming World!

A new grant focused on Bitcoin video-games is now live!

💰 10 Mill sats

🗳 Bitcoin video-games can apply

🕹 Community votes with Sats

Sponsored by Zebedee, GuildsFinance, and Anonymous Bitcoiners.

---

🙋🏻 How do I apply?

If you’re building a self-funded video-game that has or is planning to integrate lightning OR features Bitcoin as a main theme of your game then you can apply!

---

❓ Why bitcoin video-games?

Current video-games limit how players can earn and interact in the game. The players are the product!

This is because they lack an internet-native currency that can enable in-game economies through micro-transactions.

Bitcoin fixes this.

---

🎊 Lightning fix this

Lightning enables micro-transactions, instant payments, programmability, and is a bearer asset.

Gaming is a no-brainer use case to raise Bitcoin awareness and education to players around the world.

---

🏆 Celebrating bitcoin gaming

Together with

@zebedeeio

and

@GuildsFinance

we wanted to celebrate and showcase the power of lightning micropayments to the use case of gaming.

---

💰 How the Grant works

Thanks to Zebedee, Guilds and Anonymous Bitcoiners we are donating 10Million Satoshis towards bitcoin games. Grant funds will be distributed proportionally to the number of community votes received. Anyone can vote with their Sats: 1 Sat = 1 vote!

---

We accept contributions!

If you're interested in sponsoring the grant feel free to send some sats to ⚡️bitcoingaminggrant@geyser.fund or doing so directly on Geyser.

Bitcoin? 😮

Gaming? 😮😮

You had me at bitcoin gaming.

We've got something special lined up for Miami. 👀

Noice.

I wonder if a Minecraft server with a Lightning powered circular economy would qualify #[2]

Sovereign Craft seems to fit the bill.

We think it might, let's see what the board decides!

Sovereign Craft is a Minecraft server but I would argue is the best implementation of Lightning to date and is getting better. Would it qualify?

Based on the criteria you might!

1. The project must be at least at the prototype stage

2. The video-game must integrate (or have plans to integrate) bitcoin/lightning only (no altcoins. If the game won’t integrate any value, the game must feature a theme about Bitcoin

3. The project must be self-funded or community-funded.

Need to get involved in this! 🤜🤛

Any ideas #[2] ?

We in fam. 🤙

What should our next game be?

Pong? Manic Miner? Space Invaders?

What applying for the Bitcoin Gaming Grant on #[0] would do for you as a game dev/game studio?

The Bitcoin Gaming Grant isn’t just an opportunity for you to get funding for your gaming project.

Applying for this grant will help build your gaming project in the following ways:

✨1. You’ll build a community around your game.

What makes a game a success? It’s its community. One of the criteria for being a beneficiary of the grant is getting votes for your project.

And people will be voting for your game on Geyser with their bitcoin.

The grant will then be distributed in proportion to the votes you got. What better way to get votes than by building a community?

With a community, you have a ready group of people who consistently play your games and support your project.

And whether you win the grant or not, this community will be with you for life. So if you need an incentive to build a community around your game, this is it.

🤝 2. You’ll learn to market your game.

Sort of piggybacking on the first point above, games don’t get popular overnight.

Because the game with the most votes will get a chance to partake in the grant, you’ll have to promote your game a lot.

If you’ve never actively talked about your game or showed the gameplay of your game, then applying for this grant will give you the opportunity to start practicing what marketing your game would be like for you.

Everyone’s approach is different.

Maybe for your kind of game, telling a story would work better.

Maybe for you is showing gameplay.

Maybe it’s building your game in public for people to see how it’s done and be part of the journey with you.

Maybe it’s streaming it on your own channel.

Or maybe it’s all.

💪 3. You’ll acquire new skills.

It’s one thing to build a game but it’s another to build a game for bitcoin.

Integrating lightning payments (if that’s something you want to do), using the ZBD API, or connecting other bitcoin tools to your game are new skills you will learn.

And what better way to acquire or even sharpen those skills than by doing?

As you build or implement your ideas, you’ll be learning new ways to do it.

Bitcoin in gaming is very early.

I hope this inspires you to apply for the Bitcoin Gaming Grant and make your bitcoin game come to life. 🧡

Game on! 🎮👾
