Legend is, As Viking marauders we’re sneaking inland from the Scottish coast, one stepped on a bull thistle head, barefoot. His loud yell woke the Scots who quickly assembled, pushing back the invaders and defeating them.

Bull thistle is a special forces plant. Combined with dandelion and clover, this triad can reclaim a compressed gravel parking lot, making it possible for other plants to start growing after them.

As bull thistle will sometimes be the only tall plant growing in a damaged area, it has been granted special self defense powers to keep every living creature passing by from eating it.

University studies on compounds in the leaves have shown it to be such a powerful anti inflammatory, that some people with arthritic knees were able to walk and move around after regularly consuming bull thistle leaf tea.

word of warning ⚠️ use thick gloves. these spines are no joke.

One of my dogs ate one of these thistles a few years back after playing with it like a ball, guess he was bored. He started acting drunk and one eye dilated. Apparently they are nasty chemically as well.
