People say don't trust / verify. The truth is often we have totally rely in instincts and I tuition. And trust that alone. What does someone do when they have a broken car. Generally they have to pick a mechanic to help them based on how they feel about the person. They aren't going to wait to fix their car until they study how cars work for years.
