#Mauritius is not under a dictatorship. It is under a managed democracy. #sarcasm. My Mauritius Telecom #sim card was deactivated without my consent today. Calling the consumer protection unit. No hope anyways.

is that bc of ur political views / publishing
The government is doing mass surveillance. You need to provide your identity and those sim providers (private companies) will have to scan your face.
Else they deactivate your sim card.
few countries in past allowed anon prepaid cards - in past 5yrs all such ARE CLOSED DOORS now. SIM<->ID must
Let's say they want my ID. Good. But Why wanting to scan my face....
AI n face inevitable has arrived in many airports also - immigration checkpoints - asking for consent is either not necessary or just a formality
That's why we should make things decentralized. I hope there are ways for me to communicate. I mostly depend on mobile data. If you know any international card or something. Please let me know.
And thanks for discussing on this matter. I think its time to move forward with better ways.
that starts with user habits
Should be until end of April for full re-registration of sim/account and then card deactivated if not registered by then?
Well... Around 5pm saw my card not working.
mmm seems concerning why they deactivated you?
like a push of a button through a digital ID?
