You can run your own node in Umbrel at home

Let me know if you need any help !

I’m in process of setting up nodl. There are a lot of variables to consider.

I found narrowing it was best done via what do I want to do immediately.

That allow me to easily pick nodl while still having an eye out for others in the future when I want more optionality.

🤙

Any criteria i should think of? I kinda spot welded my pool pump this summer. I can understand code as I copy & paste and manipulate it.

Would prefer small and easily accessible.

I know enough code 🧑‍💻 to break a Wordpress site pretty good and that’s about it.

Nodl is the only one I’ve tried yet but it was super simple.

Think about the finish line 🏁

- what’s the biggest use you want to get out of your node?

- are you just wanting to confirm your own transactions?

- do you run a business?

- are you interested in coinjoin & whirlpool?

#[3] I know is also early in this process and writing a blog about his experience.

🤙

Goal is to ₿e accepting payments off site and able to troubleshoot easier.

Wordpress? A kindered spirit i see.

Haha 😂

Nodl is working well for me so far. I’ve noticed that their “marketing” isn’t as verbose & flashy as other companies but they are a small team that does great work. But that quickly turned into a selling point for me rather than a negative.

You might start there and then compare it against any others out there for your first go around.

🤙

Great info much to see and do now, thanks for everything.

I got go plant now 🤙

My favorite is raspibolt.org as you can learn a lot from setting it up.

If you don't wanna do so much command line then I'd recommend MyNodeBTC which has images for the pi as well as amd64 and others

I appreciate the tips, i would rather learn on the fly and can troubleshoot myself, plans are for accepting payments at store front.

Personally run Raspiblitz on Raspberry Pi but now that Pi-s are hard to find and expensive, it might be worth looking at running a node on a dedicated laptop or similar:

I have one from myNode. Easy to use and user friendly. If you want to go full sovereignty I’d go with raspberry pi I think you can get them on Amazon

Thanks man, glad to see you here more. Thinking pi is the way to go

Trying to use both nostr and twitter. Love the interaction here. Twitter algo hasn’t been friendly to a lot of the bitcoin content I’m used to seeing

Yeah, word is theres a 5 week Cancon embargo going on with my ISPs. Plus less censorship here. Do you still have a hook up from when you got you pi?

I don’t but I can ask around and I’ll get back to you

Gm, glad to see you grinding here too

Thanks

Always grindin my dude!

Plug & play or build your own from parts ?

I can trust a plug and play, I can also build a pc, have yet to use a “hammer weld” on a circuit board but sounds fun.

Lets air on the side of sovereignty

Raspi 4 B / 4gb / 1tb SSD and a few accessories prob get it done for 200-250.

Sounds like a ₿usiness expense

Indeed it is 🤓
