I cannot stress enough how enormous the barriers to entry for psychiatric care are in the US, especially for ADHD and autism. Every month I spend the better part of four days arguing and filling out paperwork and calling receptionists — and spending so much — so just my brain stays able to do those tasks and earn that money.

How are people supposed to work shifts and handle this? What if you're a parent? These meds cost nothing to produce. Why is it not cheaper for society to let me function?

The discrimination is at almost every level of medical care: Scheduling, insurance, providers, paperwork, outdated diagnostic and treatment protocol, medication shortages, copays, constant re-testing with tests that are barely available. I'm stop here but the list goes on and on.

I am desperate for someone to just check in every six months and mail me the pills I've been on since I was 14 — and then leave me the fuck alone to do my job and be a functional person!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who would suffer if more people got their shit together?
