The mosque has many different names. It is commonly known as the "Pink Mosque", but is also called the "Colorful Mosque", "Rainbow Mosque" or "Kaleidoscope Mosque". It is a space where light and prayer intertwine.

The mosque comes to life at sunrise, and the colors dance around like whirling dervishes throughout the day, reflecting on the floor, walls, arches and rising towers. It gives visitors the impression that the first light of day has hit a colored ball, sending thousands of butterflies flying everywhere.
