he cost of the family food basket in Venezuela -estimated for five people- averaged around 511.20 dollars in June, which means that the monthly minimum wage, set at 130 bolivars, which is equivalent, at the official rate of this Friday, to 4.48 dollars, is enough to cover 0.8% of that cost, according to calculations by the Venezuelan Federation of Teachers (Cendas-FVM).
The so-called "basic basket", made up of 60 basic necessities, increased by 4% in June compared to the previous month, going from 14,024.10 to 14,584.62 bolivars (511.20 dollars), says the Cendas report, which shows the behavior of the indicator in local currency and in the US currency, with which most commercial operations in the country are completed.
