I have had similar experiences. Maybe how hungry you are effects how your brain interprets taste. 🤷‍♂️🤔

When I'm in this autopilot mode, I seem to be able to multi task more than normal. I think a good way of saying it is you are in flow.

Yeah, I was kind of wondering if it was a kind of flow state, which is something I understand from making music and other creative endeavors.

And the saying hunger is the best seasoning is definitely true. 😅
