Zapvertising is easily exploitable. Will lead to zap inflation with people zapping themselves from alt accounts. Unless I’m missing something.

Why would they zap themselves if the traffic is on higher profile notes ?
maybe I have completely misunderstood what zapvertising is. Is it not sorting replies by zap amount received?
Example: me with 10 followers zaps myself from other account to promote something, = no traction
Me zaps npub with 3000 follower from my acct n become highest zap ⚡️ n promote something = traction
Yes on other peoples notes. So you can’t really zap yourself. You have to zap some one else’s note for it to even be useful.
Exactly, people will see through it first one and for two you really do wanna zap a note of someone with more eyes on it if you’re promoting something cause chances are you already make notes about it so might as well use someone else’s note as the billboard

I think so. I don’t think it moves comments up if they get zapped or anything. Only zaps to OP note.

If the author has multiple replies, are they all boosted according to the amount zapped?
No it only pins the top zap. The zap has a comment within it. So it displays that zap and the zap’s comment right under the original note.
No cuz then your advertising on your own post. That makes no sense…

Damus today has the occasional no-profile, no-content reply. My first thought that this was people exploring how to game it. I see now that this is just a rendering bug, probably with the new reply sorting feature, as tapping through to notes with actual content is sometimes showing me empty notes.
