perhaps also one small 6102 type event, so that people learn what bitcoin is about

That's mean (although you maybe right).

I like nostr:nprofile1qqst4qyeqenw7zm0fwjsty68h6cnys5jre2xd8ngqpjv5a2j26s78fspz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumrfvecxz7fwd4jsz9thwden5te0wfjkccte9e3k76twdaeju6t0qy28wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hsmryfpz for their great effort to onboard merchants to Bitcoin. If only everyone would put so much effort into growing this *payment* system.

The first time a merchant gets rugged using a janky custodial wallet, they won’t come back to bitcoin for years, if ever.

Fair point. What can *we* do?

ditch lightning completely. it's too difficult to use without a custodian. activate CTV, CSFS, and more, to let people build flexible alternatives such as ark.

it will not work. hacks and exit scams have been happening since mt gox. there's always going to be fresh people who haven't learned to care yet. if the community relies on hacks to teach new people the hard way, there will be enough hacks to harm the reputation of the currency. instead, the cultural standards inside the community need to become more strict. excessive reliance on custodians should be looked down upon, like eating too much candy or watching too much porn.
