Constructed almost 1,000 years ago and originally surrounded by a moat, the great Khmer Temple of Angkor Wat is one of the largest and most elaborately carved archeological sites on earth.

Located in Siem Reap, Cambodia it was originally built as a personal mausoleum for King Suryavarman II and dedicated to Vishnu. It was converted to a Bhuddist Temple at the end of the 12th century.

At the entrance to the main tempke gate stands the mythical Naga. This massive statue represents the seven-headed serpent and protector of Vishnu.
