I am about to express a frustration...

I am really frustrated with the keyboards i downloaded since I've been on GrapheneOs.

I downloaded Unexpected keyboard and Yandex with the hope they will perform better than the built in graphenos one.

In some respects Yandex is bearable. (It does crash though if I try tagging on Amethyst)

As far as Unexpected as of now I don't have energy to be getti g used to the quite differently functioning set up I am used to.

Here's my added frustration - aon a daily basis I am used to switch between a cyrilic language and type messages and Latin alphabet for my english typing.

I have had no success downloading my desired additional language to the keyboard for weeks now. With Yandex it keeps popping a message that there is no internet which is absolutely untrue. I feel so disabled needin to type Latin letters to speak Slavic... the spellchecker gets a whole other level grueling 😣

With unexpected I don't even know where to begin to even find other languages.

I'm getting better with Unexpected, but I still get long passwords wrong 1/3rd of the time :(

Its faster than multi-tap keyboards, though, I admit.

I have no idea how to get it to do Cyrillic, hopefully someone else can help.

Curious about the "no internet" error, wonder if your country of residence blocks Yandex IPs, or if Yandex is prone to block IPs from your country of residence. Maybe try adding Yandex keyboard to VPN/Tor and see if the problem changes...

Thank you for rejecting and sharing. I have no idea how to do what you are suggesting. I am also in the US. Its seems all keyboards even the built Graphenos one has that same issue.

You're not alone! Tried unexpected, florisboard and anysoft not really happy with any of them. Anysoft vest for now but still testing and looking

Anysoft? That's the name? Might just try it.

I have never tried external keyboards, but isn’t that a huge security risk? These third party keyboards could log every keystroke

Maybe depends on what keyboard you download. A bunch of people here recommended the two I've mentioned. I think you have choice as to what permissions you give?

Have you considered GBoard? It is the official keyboard used in the stock Pixel OS. You are free to disable it's network access if you have privacy concerns. It has no issues.

What about this?

That notification appears for any keyboard app, it isn't specifically about GBoard.

You are free to disable internet access for the keyboard and it can't send anything out.

Ok. I think that's what I am going to do. Thank you!Maybe you've shared that before where do I disable the internet access fot it? May e that's why the Yandex and other keyboard wouldn't download my other language. If I forgot and did the internet disable thing.

When you download an app it gives you the choice to enable/disable on the install dialog.

Otherwise, go to Settings -> Apps -> All apps -> (the app you choose) -> Permissions -> Network

Ah ok. I already unchecked Network Permissions when I installed. Thank you, for confirming that's the same thing.
