My thoughts after I did 1 week with #OnlyZaps and 1 week without.

I’m not sure still what the “like” truly is. Did you enjoy the post? Is this just an acknowledgment? Was it a misclick?

I think that having an option as a free way to engage with a post is a good thing. But I also think that the content creator should have control over their notifications, or ability to enact a cost to engage to fight spam.

Bitcoin fees are skyrocketing as a result of the block space being spammed. The miners are placing a real penalty for these actions. I think there is some way for people to protect themselves in the same way.

I’m not sure where we will be at in 5-10years from now on Nostr or all social media. But it’s very possible how we engage with others could be much different than today. Especially with AI bots!!!

I appreciate all the likes, comments, reposts, replies, and of course the zaps ⚡️. I will leave #OnlyZaps off for now, as I want to leave the free barrier to “like” available as nostr continues to grow. I may from time to time switch this to retest my experience and to see if my thoughts change overtime

Your experience seems similar to my own. I still feel that the like is a strange thing, agreeing that nostr already tosses a ton of nuances likes can be the bridge until a later date.

Still team #paytoengage

🤝

It’s also difficult to put all my thoughts down into a post… probably needs more refinement in talking about it and testing it.

The like is out of the bag, imagine social media previous to it. Nostr doesn’t get that luxury. I saw the other day~8k daily users on nostr.

We can tinker and be ok, nows the time for it when our audience doesn’t rage(or quickly forgets). I don’t want nostr to have the trade offs as gardens become walled. Our voices matter greatly here as we are truly building our community and 1 voice each.

₿ring on the experimental.

Definitely out of the bag. How we look at it will always be a little different, if not significantly different moving forward
