I strongly want to do both, but my first response is probably to assist the victim and when they are OK to then go after the perpetrator. This is especially true if the victim is a child and/or if there is nobody else to help the victim.

I suspect these two types tend to align with male/female, which says a lot. I could be wrong though. And you're right--each situation is unique.
I definitely think that it is more common for a female to be compassionate first and a male to be protect first. Like in all things, there are exceptions and there are some that strongly have both tendencies.
