Spanish called it the "poison apple" and did not eat it till later on. No one knows. In Portuguese is "Tomate". The English word, Tomato, was borrowed from the English, from Portuguese, Spanish or French. We did discover South America ...well, we travelled and made families around the world. That's why, usually, in every country you go, you find a Portuguese. Lol
