I’m embarrassed by years of my own neoliberal supremacist thinking. Believing we were a light to the world when we were one of its oppressors. It’s a harsh wake-up call. But a welcome one.

Western dominance of the people of the world is ending. A multipolar world is emerging. America will not be the greatest nation on earth. But she can be the best America she can be.

That's quite humbling to hear. It was "Our job" for 200 years or so, then we passed on the batton. When I was younger, I was quite proud of The British Empire, now, frankly, being a lot older and wiser, it was a great abomination. Nations are sovereign as individuals should be too.
