I met this cat named Mishmish today. It’s easy to tell he has had some rough times, but he is very nice and likes being pet.

He is a stray cat, but this pic was inside a jewelry store within the Khan el-Khalili bazaar. The jewelry store owner named him Mishmish and gives him a bit of food and petting from time to time. I was looking at some bracelets and Mishmish came in vocalizing, rubbed against the owner, and then came over to inspect me too, so I pet him a bit.

There are a lot of cats and dogs throughout Cairo and unfortunately they tend to be hungry. Sometimes, though, they bond to certain shopkeepers and hang around their area, for some degree of resources and attention.
