I haven't done true web development in 20 years. Back then, I used to use PHP includes for headers, footers, and the main body. Generally, the header and footer were static, pulling in some basic information like title and tags, active page etc. The body and content would be pulled in from another page. What are some modern methods of doing this for basic website design. I see people mention using 11ty or Astro for this today. I know nothing about it. What do you use?

If you don't want to use PHP, that I think is quite legit for injecting shared content and basic if/then/else logic, and you want to avoid frameworks with precompilation pipelines, take a look at the most basic solution: https://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/howto/ssi.html
