Do not, under any circumstances, use a Ledger hardware wallet. #Bitcoin

Nvrmnd... saw the news. Time to finish my move of funds to my cold card. What would be the least expensive way to do this??
Import the seed
Thanks. Did not even think about importing!
Thats just cheapest , but I recommend generating new keys and sweeping the UTXO's when mempool is quiet .
DM me if you need a hand
Not safe to import the seed. The seed has already been compromised. Ledger has it.
You’ll need to create a new seed with your Coldcard, and send the BTC to that new Coldcard

Anything new other than the fact that personal information of their customers were leaked few years ago?
Yeah man , they in bed with regulatory agencies , hows that for ya?
I don't really care. I don't use ledger, never trusted them nor I intend to start. Just curious and want to see the source.
Yes. They just launched a service to store your seed phrase in the cloud for you as a “backup.” This comes out just as Ledger’s co-founder admits they already have a back door to users’ private keys

Well, storing seed in cloud is dumb. But nowhere in the message I see anything that would be stating or admitting having backdoor to your private keys in ledger. Only when you decide to use such feature, only then the encrypted shards of the seed will get uploaded out of your device.
It kind of seems like the unfounded spook that was floating around when Trezor implemented coinjoin and that they are now censoring your transactions which are not OFAC compliant. But the truth lies in nuances and basically is very much different than what was written all over #bitcoin Twitter and #nostr.

never would, never liked them, always smelled fishy to me and now it stinks
Yeah, the data leak was a big blemish. This now is a shit waterfall.

I don't have to worry about cold wallet hacks or stolen seed phrases, MY bitcoin is safe on Celsius.
How can one be sure, that other manufacturers don’t do the same with their devices?
SeedSigner is open source, and you can get individual parts from different manufacturers. That is the gold standard for a trustless Bitcoin hw wallet imo.
Blockstream Jade and Coldcard also have tons of eyes on them at all times. It’s possible other hw wallets have back doors on them, of course, but we *know* Ledger does for sure, as the co-founder has admitted it.
They said it’s an *optional* recovery service to shard the key and share it to 3rd parties. Everything remains optional and user controlled. No back door whatsoever. Security of the funds is not changed.
