the less digestion something requires the less filling it is

sugar and water require no digestion at all - glucose / water mix can be introduced into your body intravenously. because of this you can never get full by drinking sugar water and the fattest people you will ever see usually have a 2 liter soda bottle not far away from them

starch requires some digestion, and is slightly more filling, despite being made 100% out of sugar, but this depends on the starch as well - some digest faster than others - that's what glycemic index is for

protein and and fat require more digestion still - with steak taking about 6 hours to digest which is enough to keep you full between meals

but fiber doesn't digest at all - which makes it the ideal weight loss food

of course by that logic you might as well eat haitian mud cookies since mud also doesn't digest ... the difference is humans have evolved to eat fiber but not mud ...

also the bacteria in your gut expect a certain environment of which fiber is a part but mud is not ...

Vegan scammers tried to argue that you NEED fiber because without it you will be unable to poop since all the food will be digested and nothing will come out ... but i can confirm that you can poop just fine eating NO fiber because actually the bacteria that live in your gut is what forms the poop ... and also why it smells ...

so you absolutely do NOT need Fiber but you will feel much more full if you do consume it ... you will also have more gas ( flatulence ) and poop twice as often.

is it worth it ? depends on how badly you want or need to lose fat. you will almost certainly lose weight faster and easier with fiber, but the side effects may or may not be worth it for you.

people who attack fiber are idiots or charlatans just like people who attack saturated fat and cholesterol are.
