Relay operators so far have been able to keep relays "clean". I generally avoid the global feed. It's wild out there.

Build your own follows. I'm sure nasty stuff exists but you are your own algo.

Consider paying for relays. I think they help keep it classy.

I go to a site called https://nostr.watch/relays/find - Click on paid. Should be a big list of relays around the world you can connect to, however depending on the relay and operator, prices can differ.

I suggest finding 3-5 to begin which are reputable and going to their respective website. Sadly there are no links to the website from that relay page so you will have to just copy the address of the relay you want, and then put that into a new browser tab.

Purchase relay, upon confirmation you should be given a wss address. Depending on your web client, you should be able to enter the wss address into relay settings. I use metadata.nostr.com personally. I find it extremely helpful as well being able to backup my contacts and profile etc! You should be able to add your new relays into the relays settings with read and write access ticked.

It's also worth using some public relays, to give yourself more exposure but sometimes just a few relays that do the job is great 😃
