What makes ocean special compared to say Braiins pool? Just the direct payouts?
Just convinced someone to use nostr:npub1qtvl2em0llpnnllffhat8zltugwwz97x79gfmxfz4qk52n6zpk3qq87dze and helped them set it up (took 5 minutes) and in that discussion, someone else decided to buy an ASIC specifically because of Ocean.
Yeah this pool is gonna change things.

I love Braiins, don’t get me wrong. The key difference with Braiins is transparency and accuracy. There’s no duration periods, wasted work, scoring hashrate, custodial parties, anything like that. It’s also a different pay structure completely. Braiins is FPPS where Ocean is TIDES (which is new). It closely resembles PPLNS if anything.
I’m just now reading up on FPPS and it does not sound like the Braiins reward system since you only get your share of rewards when a block is actually discovered… are you referring to this post where someone is suggesting they are moving towards FPPS or am I missing something?
