No one knows what will happen in a complex system. To presume that standing up makes no difference is folly. You can either stand up for what’s true, or hide and feign compliance. That’s your only choice.

Kant’s Categorical Imperative: Act only under that maxim you would will to be a universal law.

I.e., act out of principle, not convenience, or not based on speculation about *whether* other people would follow suit, only whether you would will them to.
