A zap is simply a special type of Bitcoin transaction which allows you to send a fraction of a Bitcoin instantly and at near-zero fees.

We use zaps on nostr as an improved version of a "like" by sending value (zaps/Bitcoin) to those who provide value to us (notes/posts).
