The Rabbit War of 2025 has commenced. Each summer I engage in rodent wars - chipmunks, squirrels, and rabbits. In the past, chipmunks have been the nemeses. I once started C.H.i.R.P. = Chipmunk Habitat Relocation Program for trapping and moving them. I think 18 chipmunks were relocated, none harmed. Below is a gif showing the traps: it goes it, bait is in the rear, trips the trigger, trapped.

This year, it's rabbits. I had two nice tomato plants almost ready to be transplanted into the ground. A rabbit nipped one off, left it on the ground. I started more baby tomato plants. The rabbit nipped half of them off. So, I brought in the milk crate cover. If the problem persists, the next step is the rabbit trap and relocation. Stay tuned.

There's the chance that whatever chipmunk or rabbit you relocate will go back to your garden to nip your plants again.
