The two buttons operate differently and are not the same. The home button at the bottom returns you to the top of your feed. The button in the top left takes you quickly to your profile and other settings. How would you easily get to those without that button?

If anything, I’d say the Damus icon in the middle is the most redundant, but I’d imagine not many users click on that.
Honestly it sounds like we have different apps or versions because what you're saying makes no sense to me 🤷
