Any of you ever thought to make files that only last a certain amount of time? It has always bothered me that strangers have my CV on file. You never know how protective they are of the data they store. Like a self destruct file after like 2 or 3 weeks?

Yes! We think about things like this a lot. Unfortunately there's no way to really do this. From an information stand point if someone can see a file, even for a brief period of time, they could copy the info out before they're blocked from reading it again.
Once information has been made accessible to someone you have to assume it's been copied and distributed.
Im not concerned with people that are actually trying to scam to get info. Its more of a ..every person that forgets to delete files bc they’ve got so much work on their hands that they dont even get through all the ‘files’ If a company isn’t interested in the data of the person it should just disappear after a while. Theres too much things scattered imo. Im sure there would be possibilities to put a timer on it. I dont use word but maybe something like a pdf whatever you guys call your coding things.
They can screenshot and OCR, aside from being impossible to see an expiry into a file and ensure it is entirely wiped off.
When I share my CV, I always create a SimpleLogin alias with the company's name and replace my email.
At least when you get spammed, or data leaked, you know where to pin and act upon it
