If you ever wonder why I don't "follow" anyone, look through these images and see how many of these npubs you "follow."
These are all npubs who have me muted. Meanwhile, I pretty much only mute bots. You people are all free to talk to me.
So, should I "follow" you while you "follow" that many of the people that mute me? However many it is?
Maybe you think so. OK, so let's imagine I agree.
How many of those people do you think I would have "followed" in that case?
How many of them still would have muted me even though I was "following" them?
Do you know how fucking painful it is to keep getting muted by the people you "follow" in shitholes like this? I already went through it with everyone blocking me on Bluesky. The difference is you can't block me or end up completely banning me from posting here, like they did.
On the other hand, how many of those that have muted me, wouldn't have muted me if I was "following" them? How many echo chamber cultists would I be "following" and being mistakenly nice to? In this hypothetical where I "nostr follow" people, I don't know they'd have fucking muted me if I just didn't "follow" anyone on nostr. That's not a plus side.
People are extremely sick, and I don't think Jack Dorsey's echo chamber malware design is helping.
