No no no...the 1st floor is the first one you walk on when you enter the building. The first floor is the bottom floor. We don't count from zero because we aren't machines.

There is no 0, there's ground, then first second third etc

Americans do also use "ground floor" but we use it interchangeably with "first floor" because for us first floor is ground level.
