Self custody purism can be limiting the spread and reach of bitcoin. Not everybody on planet earth needs self custody and most don't even want it. We also don't have the technology for it at scale. But mints exist today and they are easy to use and scale. The front lines in the world of kinetically fighting tyranny is happening in Myanmar, where they opted for Tether. Could they have adopted bitcoin instead? I don't think the answer is easy and that is a problem.
