My kid asked me why he need to learn English (reading and writing). I printed out a world map and circled all of the places they speak Japanese. And then circled all of the places they speak English and or understand it to some degree. I think it clicked for him 😆

I think the same, but lately, I’ve started to wonder if in a few months we will have automatic translators using LLMs, both for live conversations and written text.
