We have two chickens who insist on sleeping 30ft up in a tree. They hang with the flock, and do average chicken things during the day, but they nix the coop, and are determined to sleep high up in trees at night. Doesn’t seem like the smartest choice since we have owls in the area. But we have an unusual relationship with our animals in that we don’t force them to do things. (within reason)

If they want to sleep in a tree, they can sleep in a tree. Though one encounter with an owl will probably change that, assuming they survive.

very few. they like to be a little further away from wetlands where there are more dense trees.

lots of coyotes though. and the worst chicken predator, the mink.
