taking an educated guess here and saying it is stored locally. i dont see any special tags or anything in the json to distinguish it as a bookmark, nor do i see any special nostr event on nostr.info

would that mean if i sign out and delete the app and later sign back in, those bookmarks wpuld disappear? not that it affects me, just curious

just sign-out sign-in might not erase, but deleting the app would erase

Yeah we should use encrypted lists for these.

to ultimately store it the relay? what’s your server storage looking like when you already have millions of posts stored on damus? 😅

It’s mostly filled with spam which I occasionally dump during maintenance hours. The public relay will likely not store everything indefinitely, which is why you should use paid relays with some kind of data retention terms if you care about that.

that sounds completely reasonable to me. people may not agree with their posts ‘fizzling out’ to the nostr void, and to those people i’d just recommend setting up a private relay. data storage is expensive

makes sense, that’s the point i was really trying to make. i shouldnt have said ‘doesnt affect me’ ofc it does. just getting a new phone would clear my bookmarks. that’d be a lot of individual user info (what someone has bookmarked) to store in a self-managed relay though, right? are there other alternatives to local/relay storage?
