Whenever I tell my 5yo about any war, her first question is "Who started it?"
It's complicated. And even if it were clear cut who started it, there's almost no point in asking who's right or who's wrong, only who can and who cannot get away with being wrong.

WW2 is an examppe where these questions are answerable?
I didn't talk with my daughter about ww2 but of course the answer isn't relevant here neither.
In an alternate timeline where the Nazis won, you would certainly learn in school how morally superior and heroic they were.
