I like the way the aliens in Kurt Vonnegut’s book Slaughterhouse-Five describe how humans perceive time and reality…

The Tralfamadorians (aliens) explain humans perceive time linearly, like strapped to a railcar viewing landscape through a narrow pipe, seeing one moment at a time, whereas the Tralfamadorians see all moments simultaneously, like a mountain range.

Humans may not be able to see reality like the Tralfamadorians, but we can aim our steel pipe and increase its aperture.
