Nostr can seem frustrating sometimes, but it still is worth pointing out that it's unrecognizable compared to this time last year.
There were highs and lows in 2023, development wise, but the trend is positive.

What is it tat you find frustrating, if you don't mind me asking?
Compared to Mastodon, the clients are worse, the features are worse, the people are really boring on average. There is no one app that can do everything you want it to do, they all have critical bugs that make them difficult to use, and there are no good multi-column interfaces at all, so the desktop experience is always bad. If you try a new client, you’re liable to lose all your follows and relays, and you have to rebuild your home timeline from scratch.
The only good thing about Nostr right now compared to Mastodon, is that Mastodon admins can easily ban and hide your account. It’s more complicated to get that done on Nostr.
Not fair comparison, considering that mastodon has been around for at least a decade.
Software needs time to mature, and nostr clients are not immune to this. Still, the pace of development in this space is phenomenal!
It doesn't make sense to me that you follow more than 1k accounts and still find people boring! You haven't put enough effort in curating your feed, or improving your profile for people of same interests to find you?
I don’t care if it’s fair or not. It’s true. When it gets better, I’ll change my opinion. I follow a bunch of people because follow backs are a quick way to get seen on any platform, I just copies a few of my frens’ follow list. Otherwise I’d be posting into a void.
