Replying to nobody

I grew up under 30 years of a regimented government that prioritized the safety of what I would like to call their organization. It was more about generating profits and creating assets for themselves from the sweat of their citizens. They built and funded a system that protected them, not the other way around. The priority should have been the safety and well-being of the individual, and I am emphasizing safety and well-being more than freedom and free speech. This is because the citizens' priorities are not yet on that level. They first need to survive and have a roof over their heads before they can discuss other things. When the regime fell and the system was broken due to our rebellion against it, the punishment was chaos and destruction for the entire society.

That sounds awful and I’m sorry you had to go through that.

As long as there are too many humans on earth though, governments/religions/systems of control will rise out of our tendencies toward fear, laziness, and greed.

The only way to counter these innate flaws is too have enough space/resources for each of us to live that we can be fearful, lazy, and greedy without impacting anyone else.
