I found out that the Smithsonian Museum has a department that will identify the remains of birds.

I found this out because one of our planes had a bird strike incident. A bird strike is when a bird of any size gets ingested into the jet engine.

The engineer in charge sent the remains of the bird to the Smithsonian. Months later the results came back.

It was a poor pintail duck that met it’s end in that engine.
