They're a private bank that is a crony to the government. Actually the govt and the central bank live in a symbiotic relationship so it has power to do things like ruin the economy by raising interest rates despite the real power still coming from government.

The inverse then. Real power is in the Fed. Not the governments.

So yeah, metaphysical because nobody seems to truly understand how much power the Fed & central banks really have. Don’t be fooled by the front men/women. Yellen & Powell are paid clowns. They have zero power. They are spokesmen, PR people.
