🤔

In the world of open source, how many decide to become a business with full time developers in year 1-2?

I honestly don’t know. I thought Open source is usually a hobby unless it becomes really successful.

I guess open source wording is being over used nowadays! It’s kind becoming like crypto used to mean cryptography but then it turned into the profit making model! I’m not saying that it’s bad but when you build freedom of tech you don’t usually expect a return ! Look how Bitcoin started and read nostr:npub1g53mukxnjkcmr94fhryzkqutdz2ukq4ks0gvy5af25rgmwsl4ngq43drvk and Satoshi email ! There definitely were no $ interests and 0 VCs

FSF suggest all software should be free

Then make it closed source and sell 😉

Cute, but the better way is to learn how to program and contribute, because you realize that your industry changing app idea is just a repurpose of a bunch of functions that've already been implemented.

Which projects do you think are victims of this?

We started progressing towards bloated clients

I disagree.

Doing something you love for far longer than you’d wish and it just becomes an indistinguishable from something you hate doing.

It’s temporary solution but it becomes a drug when the money is being given away and you stop figuring out how to progress !

I mean, there a few that will work on a project and just live on tips. Eventually funding is needed . Devs gotta eat too

Creating something from nothing is just faster than building something bigger and more complex onto something already existing.

Maybe it was attempt to do so ? And share thread to everyone so they can do the same?

🤔 Not the way I see it. I've only been here for about a month but your opinion seems somewhat invalid. Many nostr projects are open-source, no? All projects need a core base model.
