I've had this idea for while and would like to see if anyone else here likes it:

A new congressional act: the Local Food Act. The idea is to make for the next ten years the profit from all local sales of food personally grown needs no reporting for taxation.

Local means "within the same or adjacent counties or within 100miles "

Personally grown means "grown or raised and sold by the same entity of a single family farm with profit of less than $2M/yr, a sub-50 person operation of profit less than $500k/employee". For the sale of meat, the animals need to have lived on the land for 2/3 of their lives or transferred from another local, having lived locally for the entirety of their lives.

This will have two effects: encourage local food growing, keeping money local to boost economy and reduce the need for food transportation to please the ecologists and economists alike 🤙 Plus, anything to reduce the dependency on the global supply chain is a win.
